Maharashtra
Maharashtra is the state in the West India. Mumbai is the capital of the state. The main cities in the state are Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nasik, Lonavala-Khandala Hill station, etc.
Maharashtra is the 2nd most populated and the 3rd largest state in India. The state is bordered by the Arabian Sea. The state has the unique location of being situated between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats.
How to reach:
By Air:
There is basically one major international airport in Maharashtra i.e. the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport of Mumbai. Apart from that, the city also has a domestic airport - Santa Cruz Domestic Airport. The airports at Nagpur and Pune also operate a few international flights, apart from the usual domestic ones. The cities of Kolhapur and Aurangabad also have a domestic airport of their own.
By Road:
There are a number of National Highways and State Highways crisscrossing Maharashtra, which make it easier for any visitor to visit the state by road. Infact, through these highways, you can easily approach the state from any and every part of the country. Apart from that, you can easily get buses and taxis from the numerous cities in Maharashtra to travel within as well as outside the state.
By rail:
The largest as well as the most important railway station of Maharashtra is situated in Mumbai and is known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. From there, you can get trains to almost every part of India. Apart from that, there are railway stations in Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, AMravati, etc. In short, Maharashtra is well connected with the other states via railways.

1. Mumbai:
Popularly known as ‘Bombay’, Mumbai is the largest city and the capital of Maharashtra. It is also the most populated city in India and the 5th most populous city in the world. The city that we see today is a collection of 7 islands which were joined into a single metropolitan through land reclamation techniques in the 18th century under the rule of the British East India Company. The city is often nicknamed the Manhattan of India and is home to the famous Indian film industry or ‘Bollywood’.
2. Khandala:
Located on the Western Ghats, Khandala is located between the Deccan Plateau and the Konkan region of Maharashtra. The city is easily accessible and is a popular hiking getaway near Mumbai. The various trekking locations and viewpoints allow some magnificent views of the entire valley and the Western Ghats. The ancient rock cut caves of Karla and Bhaja are also a must visit along with the Bhushi Lake. The rock formations and cliffs in Khandala have been famous since ages and it is a popular weekend retreat for the people of Mumbai and Maharashtra.

The Gateway of India is a monument built during the British Raj in Mumbai City of Maharashtra state in Western India. It is located on the waterfront in the Apollo Bunder area in South Mumbai and overlooks the Arabian Sea. The structure is a basal tarch, 26 metres (85 feet) high. It lies at the end of Chhatrapati Shivaji Marg at the water's edge in Mumbai Harbour. It was a crude jetty used by the fishing community which was later renovated and used as a landing place for British governors and other prominent people. In earlier times, it would have been the first structure that visitors arriving by boat in Mumbai would have seen.
2. Siddhivinayak Temple, Mumbai:
The shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir is the Hindu temple which is dedicated to the lord Shri Ganesha. It is located in the Prabhadevi, Mumbai, and Maharashtra. It was originally built by the Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil on the 19 November 1801. It is one of the richest temples in Mumbai.
