Haryana
Haryana is the state in North India with its capital at the Chandigarh. It came into the existence on the 1 November 1966 as the newly created state carved out of the Indian Punjab (East Punjab) state on the basis of language. It has been the part of the Kuru region in the North India. It is bordered by the Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to the north and by the Rajasthan to the west and the south.
The largest cities in Haryana are Faridabad and Gurgaon, which are part of greater Delhi area called National Capital Region. Other large cities are Rewari, Panchkula, Panipat, Ambala, Palwal, Yamuna Nagar, Rohtak, Hisar, Karnal and Bahadurgarh.
Climate:
It is extremely hot in summer, around 45 °C (113 °F) and mild in winters. The hottest months are May and June and the coldest being December and January.
Places to Visit:
1. Surajkund:
Surajkund is an ancient reservoir of the 10th century, 2 kilometres away to the south west from the more ancient dam of the 8th century called the Anagpur Dam, both are located 8 kilometres from South Delhi in Faridabad, Haryana, India. Surajkund (‘Lake of the Sun’) is an artificial Kund (lake or reservoir) built in the backdrop of the Aravalli hills with an amphitheatre shaped embankment constructed in the semicircular form.
Another ‘Kund’ by the same name as ‘Suraj Kund’ existed in the Sunam city, famous for surajkund mela, tahsil and sub division of the Sangrur District in the Punjab.
2. Damdama Lake:
Damdama Lake is the reservoir in the Sohna, Gurgaon district in the Indian state of Haryana. It is one of the biggest lakes in the Haryana and with an area of the 3,000 acres. Damdama Lake was formed when the stone and the earthen dam constructed by the British was commissioned for the rain water harvesting in the 1947. The lake greets visitors with the level down to the 20 feet. During monsoon the water reaches up to 50 to 60 feet.
3. Badkal Lake
Badkal Lake was the former natural lake situated in the Badkal village near the Faridabad, Haryana. It is about 32 kilometres from the Delhi. Fringed by the hills of the Aravalli Range this was the man-made embankment. Owing to unchecked the mining in the neighbouring areas, the lake has now totally dried up. There are functional Haryana Tourism restaurants in the vicinity. A flower shows is held every spring here. Its name is most probably derived from the Persian word bedakhal, which means free from the interference. Close to the Badhkal Lake, is the Peacock Lake, which is another picturesque spot.
4. Rohtak Zoo
The Tilyar Mini Zoo, Rohtak is located inside the Tilyar Lake complex on the Delhi Road in the Rohtak, Haryana, India.
The Tilyar Zoo at the Rohtak is only 42 kilometres from Delhi and the zoo is well maintained, Tilyar Lake and the Tilyar Zoo are worth visiting.
5. Sultanpur National Park
Sultanpur National Park formerly known as Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary. It is located at the Sultanpur 15 kilometres from the Gurgaon, Haryana and the 50 kilometres from the Delhi in India.
6. Kapal Mochan
Kapal Mochan is an ancient place of pilgrimage for both Hindus and Sikhs, 17 kilometres north-east of Jagadhari town, on the Bilaspur road in the Ambala district. It is called Gopal Mochan and the Somsar Mochan. As per the Legend, Brahmanahatya ie killing of the Brahmin is considered as the major sin, but one who kills the Brahmin and bath here, Brahmanahatya sins will be washed.
The place finds mention in the Puranas and the Mahabharata, and was visited by the Mahadeva, Sri Rama and the Pandavas. Also the Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh visited this place to share Sikh doctrines.
Situated 11 km from Faridabad city centre, Express Sarovar Portico, Surajkund . Express Sarovar Portico is about 10 km from Lotus Temple and 18 km from Faridabad Railway Station. It is 25 km from New Delhi Railway Station and Indira Gandhi International Airport. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Qutub Minar is 14 km.

Nice post on Haryana and its places to visit. I would like to add about Sohna, a town in Gurgaon district. The City of Sohna is a popular tourist location, especially as a weekend and conference retreat. There are places to visit in Sohna which are popular among visitors.
